About
A 22-Year Journey Through Rock, Roots, and Jam
For over two decades, Whiskey Junction has been a staple of the local music scene, delivering electrifying performances steeped in the spirit of improvisation,
classic rock, and Americana. Known primarily for their high-energy Grateful Dead covers, the band also weaves in beloved tunes from The Allman Brothers Band, The Band, The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Little Feat, and The Rolling Stones, alongside a growing catalog of original material.
The heart and soul of Whiskey Junction is Joe Baer, the band’s founder and driving force since its inception in 2003. A lifelong musician with a deep love for Jerry Garcia songs and country rock, Joe envisioned a group that could capture the magic of live improvisation while honoring the timeless songs that shaped generations. His relentless dedication—both on stage as a guitarist and vocalist and behind the scenes as the band’s organizer—has been pivotal to Whiskey Junction’s longevity. Joe’s passion ensures the music never stops.

What began as casual gigs at local bars soon evolved into the band’s extended jams, and soulful interpretations. Over the years, Whiskey Junction has become synonymous with live-music authenticity, channeling the freewheeling energy of the Dead while paying homage to Southern rock grit, British Invasion charm, and swampy roots revivalism. Their original songs, infused with the same vintage flavor as their influences, have earned them a reputation as more than just a cover act—they’re torchbearers of a musical tradition.
From packed dive bars to event stages, Whiskey Junction’s 22-year run is a testament to their endurance, camaraderie, and sheer love of playing. Whether they’re stretching out a 15-minute “Terrapin Station,” tearing into “Blue Sky” or debuting a new original, one thing remains certain: when Whiskey Junction takes the stage, the room becomes a celebration of music’s timeless power.
